Ulysses Swallowtail Butterfly

The bright blue hue of this butterfly's wing isn't a result of pigmentation, but instead is due to structural coloration, wherein a microscopically structured surface interferes with visible light. Males of this species are naturally attracted to the color blue - though sometimes they will mistake various other blue objects for a female counterpart.
